Shannon S. Carter, EdD, CAE, is currently the vice president of education for the Scrum Alliance, where she directs the education and credentialing activities for the world’s organization of Scrum and Agile management practitioners. Prior to assuming her role at Scrum, Shannon was the chief executive officer of the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) and has held various staff leadership positions with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). In her professional roles, she has led organizations through the development and management of growth of accredited certification programs.

Dr. Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in organizational development from the University of San Francisco and a doctorate in organizational leadership from Northeastern University. She is CAE certified and has served on the boards of directors for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the American Society of Training Development Certification Institute (ASTD-CI). She currently sits on the board of directors for the Institute of Credentialing Institute (ICE) and on the CAE Commission.

In addition to her role at Scrum, Dr. Carter actively speaks, publishes and advises organizations on product development, governance and strategy to support learning and credentialing goals. Her professional passions include lifelong learning, strengthening organizational cultures and developing future leaders.
