When one thinks of Hope Carolyn Hand, the word ‘remarkable’ immediately comes to mind. Living with spina bifida since birth, Ms. Hand is among the world’s most accomplished riders in the sport of dressage--the ability to guide a horse in precision movements through barely imperceptible body movements.
Ms. Hand has been a participant in the Paralympic Games, is a British Invitational gold medal winner and a World Dressage Championship medal winner.
Ms. Hand has worked with the IRS since 1967. According to a flyer put out by her employer, "We’ve seen Hope grow in confidence and skill – both in her chosen sport and in her professional accomplishments – since she first joined us in 1967. 'We are athletes like any other,' she maintains. To us, Hope is a role model like no other."
