Disaster Relief Fund

Distribution Guidelines

Purpose of Fund: To assist Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) centers (with an immediate need) in funding expenses after natural or manmade catastrophic disasters. Disasters within the scope of the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund are those natural occurrences (e.g., hurricane, earthquake, tornado, flood, fire, drought) or negligent, intentional or criminal acts of man, that cause catastrophic loss having a direct and substantial adverse financial impact on a PATH Intl. Center in good standing. A federal or state disaster declaration is dispositive proof that a disaster has occurred within a defined geographic area.

Eligibility for Fund Distribution:

Funds available are based on a percentage of the amount of donations designated to the fund. The amount of monies available will be provided to the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee for grant approval and distribution. The PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee will review the grant applications, and if the request is approved, the Director of Finance will facilitate the transfer of funds to the center. A PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee member will notify the center of the grant approval in whole or in part.

Process for Distributing Monies from Fund: After the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee approves the funds, the PATH Intl. Accounting Manager will facilitate the transfer of funds to the center. The center is then responsible for verifying the funds were received.

Administration of the Fund: The fund will be administered by the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee with oversight by the Chief Executive Officer, who will periodically report on fund management and distributions to the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.

Grant Recipient Fund Report: The center is responsible for submitting a report to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer for review by the PATH Intl. Disaster Relief Fund Committee detailing how the funds were utilized. Receipts must accompany the report.
