Call
for Judges for PATH Intl. Annual Awards
|
|
Are you interested
in being part of this exciting process? Any member may apply to be part
of the judging process for the PATH Intl. annual awards.
The judging process requires a commitment of 1 to 5 hours between June
7 and June 21. The PATH Intl. staff provides clear guidelines and forms
on how the nominations are to be evaluated, and the staff also compiles
the results and notifies the award recipients. You are asked to
carefully read and review 15 to 20 nominations and make objective
judgments given the guidelines.
The scoring results are submitted electronically so it is necessary for
judges to have access to a computer and the Internet.
The PATH Intl. staff will consider all individuals who submit their
names for consideration. Individuals will be considered on a first
come, first served basis based on distribution across the various PATH
Intl. regions.
If you are interested in serving as a judge, please submit the
following to Karen Province by May 31: name, membership
number, region and email address, and please confirm that you do have
access to a computer and Internet June 7-21, 2016.

New
PATH Intl. Online Course: Spinal Cord Injuries, Paralysis and EAAT
|
|
PATH Intl. is
pleased to announce the launch of the online course Spinal Cord
Injuries, Paralysis and EAAT. This 3-week PATH Intl. education course
aims to provide focused education on conditions related to spinal cord
injuries (SCI) and paralysis, and to discuss best practices for
providing equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) to
individuals with physical and/or emotional challenges related to living
with SCI and paralysis.
The course will offer instructors an understanding of SCI conditions and
how to apply this knowledge to the development of safe and effective
EAAT lesson plans. Course curriculum will focus on integrating new
ideas for offering a participant-centered approach to planning and
facilitating EAAT.
PATH Intl. thanks the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for
underwriting the content development of this new online course.
The first section of the PATH Intl. Spinal Cord Injuries, Paralysis and
EAAT online course will begin March 1, 2016, and run each month during
2016.

A
True Story of a Horse Choosing His Person
By Marcie
Ehrman, PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee Member
During a PATH Intl.
Equine Welfare Committee conference call, mention was made of true
stories of horses choosing their people. This brought to mind a
heartwarming experience I was privileged to be part of, and I'd like to
share it with readers here.
