Best Foot Forward:
Tips for Winter Hoof Care
By Christina Russell,
PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee Member
Last week marked the first big snowstorm of the season in the Northeast,
which brought some states serious snow accumulation while other areas
maintained record high temperatures for this time of year. Horse owners
are familiar with the challenges that snow, ice and freezing temperatures
bring but erratic weather patterns with temperatures shifting from warm to
freezing can be equally difficult to manage.
At this point in the year, your horse should already be barefoot or
equipped with whatever method of traction device your farrier recommends.
Rim shoes, rubber popper pads and Borium are all excellent additions to a
standard shoe to reduce snow build up and potential slipping. Regardless
of the approach you have taken to protect your horse during the winter it
is crucial to remember that this is only the first step to caring for
their hooves. Read

Center Membership
Renewal
|
|
The deadline to renew
your center membership was December 31, 2015. Renew as soon as possible in
order to avoid a lapse in your membership. You must include a $50 late fee
with your renewal.
Online center renewal for 2016 is available, and it is especially easy to
renew your membership before it expires. With the elimination of paper,
you'll end any worry about losing your form on the desk or in the mail.
Click
here to renew online. NOTE: The center's primary contact or executive
director must be logged in to their personal account in order to renew
online.
If you need to update the primary contact for your center, please send in
a center
change notification form or a premier
accredited center change notification form.
Of course, if you prefer to send in a hard copy renewal, that is still an
option. Download and complete the center
renewal booklet and renewal invoice, and mail it in.
Centers that prefer to pay by check may complete the center renewal
booklet online and mail or use an electronic check for center membership
dues.
For more information about renewing your center membership, please visit
our FAQ
page or the Center
Renewal page.

Used in EAAT Programs
|
|
Sarah Lynn Rossi is a

supervision of Sister Ann Frances, PATH Intl. Certified Registered
Instructor, Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning and music
therapist. She is investigating if and how music is being used in other
equine-assisted activities and therapies programs. This brief nine-question
