program administrators, trainers, volunteers, board members, riders,
drivers, therapists and other medical professionals. Not only is there
a variety of information shared through workshops, but attendees also
have the opportunity to network with colleagues.
At this time PATH Intl. is conducting a call for papers
for the following regions. Presentations vary and may include, but are
not limited to, riding instruction, hippotherapy, equine-facilitated
mental health, driving, vaulting and administration. Conference
abstracts can be of a practical nature and do not need to be based on

Equine
Tips
|
|
Fire
Safety
By Cathy
Languerand, Chair of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
Did you know:
- Most barn
fires are electrical?
- One
75-pound bale of hay, lit on fire, takes about 80 gallons of water
to put out?
- The
average 5-pound fire extinguisher takes 3.9 seconds to empty?
- Fire
extinguishers should be tested (turned upside down and shaken) every
six
months?
- Fire
extinguishers need to be recharged
yearly?
- Inexpensive
box fans, not designed for agricultural use, can be a prime
accidental ignition source?
There are things you can do
to help minimize the impact of a fire emergency. Read more
The PATH Intl. Equine
Welfare Committee is making a commitment to refine and deepen our
perspective of equine well-being to include the physical, mental and
emotional well-being of our wonderful four-legged partners. Join us on
this journey. Please add your thoughts on PATH Intl. Community Connections page.
It is my desire that these tips start a further discussion on Community
Connections. Any thoughts? We appreciate hearing from you!

Center Member Benefit: Discount on
Background Screening
|
|
CertifiedBackground.com,
a corporate member of PATH Intl., is offering a 20% discount on its
services to PATH Intl. Centers. CertifiedBackground.com is a brand of
Castle Branch, Inc., the tenth largest credential management and
background screening company in the United States. Castle Branch and its
various brands provide credential management, background screening, drug
testing, employment verification, immunization tracking, certified
records review, document management and related services to its clients.
PATH Intl. Member Centers have a responsibility to keep participants
safe. Legislation in Pennsylvania (Act 153) requires a comprehensive
criminal and child abuse background check for all employees AND
volunteers who work with children. CertifiedBackground can facilitate an
easy solution to provide volunteers with step by step instructions. Also,
with the applicant prepay option there is no cost to the riding center.
McKenzie LaCoss at CertifiedBackground stated, "Our main goal is to
help centers comply with this new act, help maintain their credible image
and better reduce the risk of liability."
For additional information, contact McKenzie or call her at (888) 666-7788, ext.
