Certified
Instructor Training for PATH International Equine Services for Heroes®
|
|
Made possible by a grant
received from the United States Department of Veteran's Affairs, PATH
Intl. announces an upcoming workshop for PATH Intl. Certified
Instructors who are currently providing or are interested in providing
equine-assisted activities and therapies for veterans and armed
services members. In addition to developing their skill set for working
with this specific population, workshop participants will earn 15 hours
of continuing education credit for completing this hands-on,
information-filled, three-day workshop.
Because many
instructors and centers are providing services for veterans and
military personnel, this workshop will give current instructors an
opportunity to advance their skills beyond their current certification
level. Upon successful completion of the workshop and an online
assessment, workshop attendees will receive a PATH Intl. Specialty
Certificate in working with veterans and military personnel. This is
the first specialty certificate to be offered by PATH Intl. and aims to
provide focused education in special interest areas for PATH Intl.
Certified Professionals.
Dates: March 26-28, 2015
Location:
BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center
7319 Maxon Rd.,
Harvard, IL 60033
(815) 943-8226
Space is limited -- 25 attendees will be selected at
random (2-3 from each region).

Current
CPR and First Aid Requirements for Certified Instructor and Instructor
Candidates
|
|
We have received many email
and phone inquiries lately from individuals asking about CPR and First
Aid requirements. PATH Intl. will not
accept 100% online courses as proof of CPR and First Aid certification.
PATH Intl. does accept blended, or hybrid, certification courses to
fulfill the CPR and First Aid requirement for instructors and instructor
candidates. PATH Intl. requires that you perform the necessary skills
test in front of an evaluator, so when you are searching for a class be
sure that you will be completing a child AND adult CPR module, which
includes basic first aid, and that you will complete an in-person skills
test.

Equine
Tips
|
|
Winter!
By Cathy
Languerand, Chair of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
Winter is in full force and storms are keeping everyone at home. The
horses are tucked in with free choice hay and water (heated water
buckets). Each day we add in some live food like carrots or apples to
help stimulate digestions along with a prebiotic. During the day horses
are turned out in the yard to play and roll in the snow. The sheltered,
sunny spots in the yard are filled with a horse, a goat or a feline. A
video of one of our horses even made it onto the evening news playing
king of the snow pile. So with more than a foot of snow on the ground and
the temps in the single digits, what activities can we plan? Read more
The PATH Intl. Equine
Welfare Committee is making a commitment to refine and deepen our
perspective of equine well-being to include the physical, mental and
emotional well-being of our wonderful four-legged partners. Join us on
this journey. Please add your thoughts on PATH Intl. Community Connections page.
It is my desire that these tips start a further discussion on Community
Connections. Any thoughts? We appreciate hearing from you!
