PATH Intl. Invites Applicants for CEO Position

The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) announces a call for applicants for the association's position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This vacancy will be filled in response to the planned retirement of the association's current CEO who has led the organization for four years. The Denver, Colorado-based organization's mission is to promote safety and optimal outcomes in equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) for individuals with special needs.

PATH Intl. is a thriving community of dedicated professionals who seek and promote credentialing, learning and mentoring to advance the practice of EAAT. "PATH Intl. is poised to implement its new strategic plan," states search committee chair and PATH Intl. Board of Trustees Vice President Julie Broadway. "Current industry growth and awareness have written an exciting chapter in this storied association's history. Now we have a laser-like focus on the future," says Broadway.

This full-time position will be based in Denver, CO. A full job description can be viewed at www.pathintl.org. Resumes must be submitted to the search committee, and will be accepted until March 1, 2014.

Equine Tip From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee

Equine De-Worming

Kristin Mason of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee received an update recently on deworming protocols from Dr. Steffanie Burk, Visiting Assistant Professor at Otterbein University that she wanted to pass along:

"Rotational deworming is no longer being recommended by AAEP because it is thought to promote anthelmintic resistance. AAEP came out with new parasite control guidelines, but since updating their website the guidelines aren't easy to find. Click here to download the AAEP Parasite Control Guidelines.

"For mature horses, AAEP now advocates selective deworming using fecal egg count results."
