Three Exciting Pre-Conference Workshops!

2010 conference logoThis year's workshops and sessions at NARHA's 2010 National Conference (presented by Purina Mills) promise to be some of the most exciting ever. In the upcoming weeks, we will feature in NARHA News a few of the sessions and workshops that will be presented.

Today we are pleased to highlight three special pre-conference workshops. First, on Tuesday, November 2, in the NARHA Horses for Heroes, you will learn through sessions and panels how to develop financial sustainability in your program and about planning and partnerships. You will find new ways to train and new directions in mental health. The NARHA Horses for Heroes pre-conference workshop is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two workshops are offered on November 3. The EFMHA workshop's theme is Wellness and Welfare: International Perspectives on Ethical Horse-Human Partnerships. The workshop is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Topics from world-class presenters range from the ethics of human-animal interaction to crisis prevention to promote animal safety and horse-human communication. The workshop finishes with a group discussion, "Finding Your Own Way."

The American Hippotherapy Association workshop is also on November 3, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This workshop is for facilities and therapists who want to grow an exisiting hippotherapy (HPOT)  program or start a new one. You will be presented with sample business plans and handouts on the benefits of HPOT for specific disabilities as well as discussing ways to use marketing tools for your program.

For other pre-conference education opportunities as well as all the exciting sessions that occur during the week, visit the NARHA website.

Conference Schedule Updates

We noticed a pricing inconsistency in the registration booklet for the mentor training, which could cause some confusion. In light of this, we are honoring the lower registration fee of $175 for members and $225 for non-members for mentor training registration.

Members will be able to complete two requirements needed to become a NARHA Evaluator at this year's national conference. You will now be able to attend both the Mentor Training and the Evaluator Training in one location, so please note the following schedule change:

Mentor Training:
Monday, November 1, noon to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, November 2, 7 a.m. to noon

Evaluator Training:
Tuesday, November 2, 12:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, November 3, 7 to 11 a.m.

Join NARHA's Click4Cash

click4cash logoWe are having a lot of fun and generating public interest for the EAAT industry through NARHA's partnership with Equestrian Collections. Nearly 100 NARHA centers are enjoying receiving their proceeds checks in the mail for the purchases their communities have made through their websites. To keep the fun rolling, Equestrian Collections will give one lucky center a $100 gift certificate for joining the NO COST program. They will announce the recipient in the June 2nd edition of NARHA News. Click here and follow the steps to join.

We have created a shopping area on Equestrian Collections for EAAT-focused products, but your shoppers can shop the entire site, maximizing the potential revenue for your center. All you have to do is get shoppers to click on your Shop & Change a Life button before they do the regular shopping they would do anyway. Once you have signed up, you will receive an email with step-by-step instructions for how to retrieve the Shop & Change a Life banner to place on your center's website.
