A heartfelt thank you from the NARHA staff goes to the kind folks from Praying Hands Ranch in Parker, CO and The Right Step in Littleton, CO. They along with Diane and Ernie Purcelli who travelled from Arizona between storms with NARHA Horse Ambassador Nevada Joe and Doc Holliday, helped give a therapeutic riding demonstration at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

 

Confident and competent 11 year old Jennifer Andalyn from Praying Hands Ranch was the participant in the demonstration. In addition to therapeutic riding Carl Hanson from Praying Hands also spoke to the audience about NARHA Horses for Heroes programs and the mental health benefits EAAT participants may enjoy. The great folks from The Right Step filled in as instructor, leaders, sidewalkers and arena set-up helpers. Thanks Nicole Pepper, NARHA Communities Coordinator for all of your hard work. We couldn't have done it with one less volunteer. So from all of us, THANK YOU!

Dear NARHA Members,
 
The dedicated Search Committee: Patti Coyle, Jody Enget, David Foley, Teresa Morris, Chris Sitz and Jimm Williams, have been charged by the NARHA Board of Trustees to consider contracting the services of a professional search firm experienced in placing executives in nonprofit, national, membership organizations. We are researching and interviewing several top-quality firms.The process that most firms employ includes an extensive discovery process on the front end to identify the necessary characteristics and skill set of an executive who will be the best fit for the long term. Professional search firms also have the advantage of a readily accessible network of potential candidates, which will hopefully expedite the timeline.
 
Our goal is to find for NARHA an exceptionally qualified professional who is excited by our mission and ready, willing and able to advance NARHA's promising future.
 
We will continue to keep you updated throughout this process. We are also ready to capture the opportunities that will inevitably present themselves.

The new and improved NARHA website is still on track for launching this spring! Programmers have been working diligently to keep the platform connectivity points with the new database moving along smoothly as the database has been built and also nears completion. Staff, committees and task forces have been approving copy and images for site content. The graphic design is complete and being loaded, copy will be edited, photos uploaded and the testing phase will begin. NARHA has been looking forward to this for quite some time and we are proud and really looking forward to unveiling it to the membership. Stay tuned!

 

The 2010 NARHA National Conference and Annual Meeting call for papers will be available soon! Keep an eye on your email for special online registration promotions, award nomination instructions and scholarship applications. 

 

This year the conference will be in Denver, Colorado, enjoying the hospitality of the Grand Hyatt, November 3-6, 2010. You won't want to miss this extraordinary event highlighted by the NARHA Horse Expo, the awards banquet, premier educational offerings and some fun surprises. We look forward to seeing you soon in the "mile high city!" 2010 Driving On-Site Workshop and Certification Changes

 
NARHA invites our driving centers to inquire about hosting a driving workshop in 2010. The NARHA Driving Committee has scheduled one certification in 2010, to be held in June in New Hampshire. A workshop will be held prior to the certification. NARHA will not take applications to hold another certification unless the New Hampshire certification fills and a waiting list of certification candidates is developed.
 
We encourage you to download the host forms for workshops and certifications and review the requirements. We hope to hold more certifications in 2011 so we can grow our driving program! Please also consider your schedule for 2011. 
 
The new 2010 workshop and certification host packets are available on the NARHA website.
